About the centre

The team of experienced healthcare practitioners and staff at Cannington Medical Centre are committed to providing quality family medical care. The modern facility provides dedicated General Practice, Dental and Allied Health services all working hand in hand to deliver holistic patient care. Treatment and procedural areas with Nursing support, a Pharmacy, Pathology and Radiology (X-ray, Ultrasound and CT) complete the centre's offering. The centre is open 365 days a year, offers GP appointments with the majority of services bulk billed.

There is no bus stop near our centre. The nearest bus stop is on Albany Highway, 15 minutes walk away.

Feedback

Majority of the General Practitioners in this Centre have been providing medical care to families from the surrounding community for over 20 years and are committed to ongoing continuous personal care. Furthermore, they are recognized under the authority’s Vocational Register as specialist family practitioners with advanced levels of experience, and participation in ongoing medical training and education.

Accident Care

This Centre has a fully equipped treatment room that enables the doctors in the practice to cater for majority of routine accidents including; repairs of cuts, treatment of fractures, removal of foreign materials from eyes etc.

Results, Scripts, Referrals & Other Paperwork

For privacy reasons test results are not given out over the telephone. This means that all patients are required to return to the centre to discuss their results during a consultation with a Doctor. You will also be required to attend the Centre to obtain any referrals, scripts etc. as part of a consultation with a Doctor. Our Receptionists are not trained to provide such information and they will not be taking any requests for any of these items.

Appointments

We are now offering appointments between the hours of 8am – 6pm, Monday to Friday to see your preferred Family Practitioner. Walk-ins and first available service are still welcome during the centres opening hours. You can make your appointments online or downloading the android/iPhone application HALOGP. Alternatively you can phone the medical centre (08) 6298 9999.

Billing

The Doctors within this centre Bulk-Bill all patients who are holders of a valid Medicare Card. Please present your relevant Medicare and/or Concession cards to reception. Fees may apply to Specialists and Allied Health services and any non-Medicare service item. Private fees apply to all non-Medicare card holders. All fees are payable at the time of consultation.

Non-Medicare card holders

Patients who do not have a current Medicare card are also able to see the doctor of their choice at our Centre. The current fee for a standard consultation is:

Monday – Friday : $70.00
Monday – Friday Before 8:00 am and after 8:00 pm : $90.00  
Saturday 8:00 am – 1:00 pm : $70.00
Saturday after 1:00 pm  :  $90.00

All day Sunday and Public Holidays :  $90.00

A copy of our detailed Privacy Policy is available at reception. Our practice is registered to participate in, and supports, the digital My Health Record system, please enquire with our receptionists for further details

Telephone Contact with Doctors

It is often difficult for the doctor to interrupt a consultation with a patient on the telephone. Thus, generally you will be asked to leave a message and the doctor will use best endeavors to return the call when available. Only medical emergency calls will be taken. All written materials and conversations are confidential.

Your Rights

We welcome feedback from patients to help us improve the services at our Centre. We take your concerns, suggestions and complaints seriously. Please speak to the Practice Manager or your doctor to discuss your concerns. If you prefer to write to us please do so in the feedback form above. We believe that problems are best dealt with within the Medical Centre. However, if you feel the need to discuss a matter outside of the Medical Centre, you may contact the Health Care Complaints Commission on 1800 813 583 or visit www.hadsco.wa.gov.au..

Home Visits

The doctors in this practice maybe available for house calls and external visits for regular patients of the practice. Please telephone the Centre to arrange for a home visit. (See “Bulk Billing Policy”)

Recalls

The Doctors in this centre routinely send recall and reminder letters along with SMS to patients regarding follow up consultation and the review of test results. From time to time you may also be contacted and provided information about improving your health and offering you access to preventative health services appropriate to your care. If you do not wish to receive these reminders please advise your Doctor or reception team.

Translation Services

If you require the use of a translator, please advise Reception Staff upon arriving at the medical centre.

All IVF services are Bulk Billed with minimal out of pocket expenses for uninsured patients.
DAY THEATRE: Opening in September 2018 a fully equipped, State of the Art - Day Theatre will be opening at Craigie Medical Centre – 9 Perilya Road Craigie.
